Melinda Phillips

FABLES & FROLICS was created by Melinda, the company's Artistic Director, scriptwriter, composer and manager, in October 1996. Melinda has produced and performed in her shows such as "Pinocchio", and "Little Red Riding Hood" in Italian and "Jack and the Beanstalk" as well as "Rapunzel" in both Italian and German versions. A performer from a young age, she has experience singing, acting and dancing in Musical Theatre productions and providing lead vocals in a 17 piece Big Band. Melinda has also sung in a variety of rock bands in both Australia and the U.K. including touring the live band circuit in Edinburgh and performing at the Edinburgh Festival. She still lends her vocals to most Fables & Frolics show CD recordings, and can be seen performing live as a guest vocalist with Melbourne gypsy band "Bizerka".

Melanie Van Dyk

Melanie is an avid actor, singer, dancer and figure skater – an all round entertainer with loads of creative flair. Career highlights include being the recipient of a "Be Your Best" scholarship with St. Martin's Youth Theatre in 1997 and playing the role of Hermia from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in her graduating year with the Ballarat Arts Academy (formerly BAPA), where she completed her Bachelor of Arts - Theatre Performance in 2003. Melanie also works as a figure roller-skating coach, promotional model and enjoys working with children. She looks forward to performing Theatre In Education shows with Fables & Frolics in two languages this year.

Xavier Diaz

Xavier is a gifted children’s entertainer. As well as performing with Fables & Frolics he is involved in another Theatre In Education program, dealing with the consequences of graffiti vandalism. Xavier is also a professional MC and presenter where he hosts Weddings, Corporate Events, Retail Promotions and Fundraisers. He works regularly hosting children’s birthday parties and has performed in Musical Theatre productions of "Camelot" and "My Fair Lady". As Xavier is fluent in Spanish, he has found it very easy to perform in Italian in our 2006 season of “Cenerentola” and as a fabulous "Aladino" in our new show this year.
